During the fashion week information overload, I want to take you down the memory lane to re-discover one of the most hard to get right pieces of clothing, a turtleneck. A turtleneck sweater is present in most FW15 collections, so we better learn how to embrace it in our closets when days will get colder and shorter.

As a kid, I dreaded turtlenecks! They were mostly made of polyester, they were scratchy and made me feel like I could not breathe. It did not help that white and black were the only color options available at that time. Turtlenecks available for fall/winter 2015 do not resemble my nightmare of a sweater at all. They are made of fabrics such as wool, cashmere, mohair, angora and make you feel fashionably wrapped in a soft and cold-proof luxury. Some turtlenecks have modern getaway appeal, borrowing inspiration from Aran jumpers, Swiss chalet skiing gear or other highland traditions. The other turtlenecks are uber modern, have contrasting strong colors, graphic motives from street art, have a lot of embellishments or are deeply rooted in military styles. They are warm and practical but at the same time sophisticated, asymmetrical, surprisingly matching every aspect of your daily routine.

If you have any doubts how to wear and mix and match a turtleneck with the items you already have in your closets, it is easier than you think. It is generally believed that turtlenecks are believed to shorten the length of the neck. However, mock turtlenecks are perfect solution to that problem. Modern turtlenecks are usually not tight fitted and available in all sizes from more fitting to super over-sized.

Turtleneck looks great with flared and skinny jeans. They are absolutely gorgeous with mid-length full skirts or pencil skirts. For a more casual look, I recommend it with short denim skirt. If you really want to embrace the cold weather spirit, go for turtleneck dress. Just remember, this fall turtlenecks are in fun and brave color combinations; they have surprising elements (buckles, jewels, contrasting linings. My great discovery are turtleneck sweaters from Iceberg FW15 collection. (Real modern urban chic!)

Are you ready for your brand new turtleneck sweater this fall? Which one would you buy?
