At the end of the year I decided to prepare a little self-questionnaire, which I hope will serve as a therapeutical exercise not only for me but also for my readers. I strongly   encourage your to answer the questions and write them down. Maybe instead of seeing just the dark side of 2020 you will discover courage and motivation to do things differently in the new year, no matter how challenging it will be.

What is your current state of mind?

I feel overwhelmed. There is a lot of excitement and anticipation, as well as self-analysis and recollection of the last 12 months. It's been a year like no other and holidays went by so fast. I'm trying to be hopeful that the next year will bring us more joy, more freedom and more opportunities to move freely around the world without being constantly worried about our safety and health of those who are dear to us.

Do you find ‘alone time’ inspiring – or the opposite?

I think most of us were forced to have more "alone time" than ever. It's been an amazing opportunity for self-discovery  and a perfect time to create new habits and enjoy doing what we always dreamed about but never had enough time for. We are limited by travel bans, however, as someone wise once said: the journey always starts inside.

What is your go-to self-isolation outfit and why?

As it got cold, and I divide my days between the agony of working from home and trying to have at least one long walk a day, I stick to sweatpants, hoodies, warm sweaters and jeans. Any time possible, I force myself to wear a dress. Not many of those opportunities arise. However, I keep purchasing new dresses online and visualizing all the possible events I could wear them to next year. Somehow, it makes me feel more optimistic and cheerful and satisfies my craving for fashion in everyday life.

Which interior object do you find the most joy in while spending more time at home?

It definitely is my blue velvet armchair. The piece of furniture which I dreamt about for many years. I have been searching for it and  I could never find the one I liked. One day, I was walking down a tiny narrow street downtown Warsaw and found this interior decor store. It was love at first sight. It was worth the wait.

What is your favorite pastime in isolation?

The memory of my dear friend from NYC visiting Warsaw last summer. We spent the most amazing afternoon on the rooftop bar of one of the Warsaw hotels having the best time, drinking prosecco and asking the bartenders to replay the playlist at least 3 times.

Have you rediscovered anything?

I rediscovered a lot of TV Shows from the past which bring me comfort and joy: Brothers & Sisters, How I met your mother?, Frasier etc. I also got back to reading my favorite books from childhood which I found extremely calming.

Which part of your house do you spend the most time in?

Even though I stay at home, I have to work every day so it is the study. I keep it more organized than ever. Keeping my desk with as minumum clutter as possible.  I am thinking about installing more bookshelves and replacing the desk and the desk chair in 2021.

What do you look forward to doing when social distancing is no longer necessary?

A trip to NYC is on the top of my list. Visiting my favorite bars, restaurants, theaters, going dancing and being out and about as often as possible.

If you were in lock-down just with one book what would it be?

Because this year has been full of unexpected surprises, my book choice is: A Year of Positive Thinking: Daily Inspiration, Wisdom, and Courage by Cyndie Spiegel. If it wasn't for this book, the pandemic would be so much harder.

If you were in lock-down just with one song which one would you choose?

That's a tough one. I'd rather choose one of my Spotify playlists inspired by  life-long affair with music.
